Jamii Ya Imani Choir (Congolese)
The Jamii ya Imani Choir and Faith Children’s Choir will be teaming up to perform Swahili choir songs and music in the Congolese Seben style at the 2019 Harrisonburg International Festival. Jamii ya Imani means “faith family” in Swahili, and these two groups are composed of refugees that use music to speak to the hope, endurance, peace, and transcendence of circumstances that faith provides. The children’s choir acts as a bridge of race and culture.
